MoMA November 2000
|
|
The Museum of Modern Art should be on the list of
things to do
of anyone who comes to New York. This museum is a place where everybody (not just art lovers) can experience the
thrill
of 20th Century creativity.
In an era when time moves so fast, the MoMA gives
space
to all the different aspects of culture that determine the progression of
time. There are expositions that
highlight
industry, technology, communication, etc. An afternoon contemplating these different works of art
fills
visitors with a sense of both the lineal progression of modern science and the humorous
circularity
of mankind's creative spirit.
This month MoMA explores from 1960 to the present. The show is called "Open Ends." It has works
ranging
from 1960s Pop and Minimalism to new movements in film, photography, performance, and video art. Featured artists include Chuck Close, Donald Judd, Roy Lichtenstein, Philip Guston, Jenny Holzer, Anselm Kiefer, Jeff Koons, Bruce Nauman, Claes Oldenburg, Richard Serra, Cindy Sherman, and many others.
This November all eleven exhibitions that comprise "Open Ends" are on view throughout the Museum.
