Activity: Name chain

Level: All levels
Materials: None

Have students introduce themselves in a name chain. First one student says "Hello, my name is (Ann)." Then, the second student has to introduce him/herself and the previous student, and so on. For instance, "Hello, my name is (Ron). Her name is (Ann)." Continue until the last student has introduced him/herself.

To make this activity more fun, you can have each student do something when they introduced themselves, such as a gesture or movement. For instance, the first student would say "Hello, my name is (Ann)" and would wink. Then the second student would have to say "Hello, my name is (Ron)," and clap, and then add "And her name is (Ann)" and wink.

If you wish, you can also have students add the name of their favorite color or animal when they say their names. This introduces a bit of personal information and makes the game more interesting for small groups.
