Activity: What's the Weather Like Today?
Level: All levels
Website: weather.yahoo.com or other weather forecast sites
Find out what the weather is in different parts of the world. Divide the class in small groups and have them go to a site with a weather forecast section. Each group gets a card with their location. They should find out what the weather is like there. They should write down the temperature (current, high and low of the day) and weather conditions (sunny, cloudy, raining, and so on).

San José, Costa Rica
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Portoviejo, Ecuador
Johannesburg, South Africa
Casa Blanca, Morocco
New Delhi, India
Mt. Everest, Nepal
Mecca, Saudi Arabia
Vostoc, Antarctica
Kiev, Ukraine
Lisbon, Portugal
Depending on your students' level you can expand this activity by asking them questions about these places and the current weather conditions. Ask them to think of different activities that you could or could not do, say what they would do if they were there, what people are probably wearing, give advice on what you should wear, give a weather forecast based on they information they gathered, and so on.
And don't forget to have your students check the weather forecast for your area to see if it is right!
