Likes and Dislikes
Use of Gustar
You might already know how to say
me gusta
. Gustar really does not mean "to like" but "to please".
>>
Las manzanas me gustan.
Apples please me.
The "me" in "me gustan" is really an
indirect object pronoun
. Notice that the verb agrees with the subject "manzanas."
Write the literal translation of these examples.
To express that you really like something or that it really interests you, say:

I love (literally such and such charms me)

I am passionate about (literally such and such enthralls me)

like in English, such and such excites me
