Find Out How Much Something Costs

The most common way of asking how much something costs is ¿Cuánto cuesta?

>> ¿Cuánto cuesta?
How much does it cost?
>> ¿Cuánto cuesta [item]?
How much does it cost?
>> ¿Cuánto cuesta el bolso?
How much does the bag cost?

The vendor will likely answer back with Cuesta + number + currency, or Vale + amount.

If you think there may be a hidden impuesto (tax) on the service and/or to take a last step to make sure you understand the total price. Say:

>> ¿Este precio incluye los impuestos?
Does this price include the taxes?
>> ¿Cuánto es, en total?
What's the total price?
  Listen!
YOU: ¿Cuánto cuesta?

How much does it cost?
THEM: (Cuesta) quince dólares.

(It costs) fifteen dollars.

If you don't understand the precio (price), don't be shy to ask: ¿Puede escribirlo, por favor? (Could you write it down, please?)
