Conversation: Dinner at a trattoria

Carla and Rebecca are walking around Bologna's centro storico (historical center), heading towards the seven churches of Santo Stefano. As they pass a salumeria (delicatessen) their mouths begin to water. In the window displays are piles of fresh tortellini and hanging legs of prosciutto! Time to eat: they find a nearby trattoria and sit down for some cucina casalinga (home cooking).

Listen to the dialog.
  Listen!
Cameriere: Desidera?

What would you like?
Carla: Qual è la specialità della casa?

What is the specialty of the house?
Cameriere: I tortellini. Stasera li prepariamo con il gorgonzola.

The tortellini. This evening we are preparing them with gorgonzola.
Carla: Preferirei qualcosa di leggero. Sono fresche le tagliatelle?

I'd prefer something light. Are the tagliatelle fresh?
Cameriere: Purtroppo no, signorina. Le consiglio i cappelletti.

Unfortunately not, ma'am. I recommend the cappelletti.
Carla: Va bene, prendo i cappelletti in brodo, per favore.

OK, I'll have the cappelletti in broth, please.
Rebecca: Io vorrei i tortellini al gorgonzola.

I would like the tortellini with gorgonzola.
Cameriere: Bene. E da bere?

OK. And to drink?
Rebecca: Una bottiglia d'acqua gassata e un mezzo litro di Lambrusco, per favore.

A bottle of sparkling water, and a half-liter of Lambrusco [a wine], please.
