Parlo Names Mark Sauter, Former APBNews.com COO, as Chief Operating Officer

NEW YORK, NY (September 19, 2000) - Mark Sauter, the recently departed chief operating officer and executive vice president at APBnews.com, has been named Chief Operating Officer of Parlo, Inc., a global e-learning leader focusing on languages.

As COO at Parlo (www.parlo.com), Sauter will focus on expanding Parlo's presence as the leading international provider of multi-lingual language learning and cultural exchange. Over 1 million students have studied languages at Parlo. "Parlo is well-positioned to benefit from the two key growth engines on the Internet today -- globalization and learning," said Sauter.

As COO and Executive Vice President of content at APBnews.com, Sauter successfully developed major traffic and multi-media deals, and was the force behind the site's critically acclaimed content and syndicated offerings. At Parlo, Sauter will apply his expertise to integrating Parlo's language instruction with superior cultural content and multi-media tools -- from PC to broadband to wireless.

"Parlo has built a tremendous e-learning platform uniquely suited for a rapid, global rollout," Sauter continued. "There is proven historical demand for language instruction, and the Internet is the perfect vehicle to reach a worldwide market." Parlo expects to realize explosive growth as it addresses a vast, untapped market. Worldwide, approximately 1 billion people are studying English and over 250 million high school and college students are studying foreign languages.

"We are extremely pleased to have Mark driving our innovative learning offerings, and we believe he will be instrumental in accelerating our already fast-paced international growth," said Varun Bedi, co-founder and co-CEO at Parlo. "We are poised to capture our share of the $120 billion language and culture market. The core of our unique offering is our ability to bring quality language and cultural content and services to customers, whether they be consumers, corporations or institutions."

Sauter will lead a first-class management team of curriculum, technology, product development and production specialists. Currently, Parlo offers language instruction in English, Spanish and French, with more languages to be launched soon.
