Parlo Strengthens Leadership in Global E-learning with Senior Appointments
New Senior Personnel in Site Architecture, Curriculum,
Marketing and Sales Fortifies Company's Position
NEW YORK, NY, July 21, 2000 - Parlo, the premier web site offering integrated language instruction and exploration of international cultures via Virtual ImmersionTM, today announced four senior appointments. These new executives bring a wealth of diverse experience to Parlo, as well as the leadership necessary to ensure the company's continued global expansion and its command of the e-learning category.

Arley Franklin Gray joins Parlo as Vice President of Curriculum Development and brings with him invaluable experience as a language instructor, curriculum developer and publisher/author. Gray is the owner of Quest Language Systems that developed and published Power English - a self-study EFL program and has served in several editorial posts at Prentice Hall Regents and Longman Publishing Group. Gray's professional experience also includes lecturing positions at numerous colleges and universities in the New York area. Gray will harness and develop Parlo's Virtual ImmersionTM concept to make it accessible and flexible for all learners.
As chief architect at Parlo, Sukhminder Chima leads a team of software engineers who design and manage the complicated, multi-lingual, highly-interactive site. Chima brings to Parlo a deep understanding of streaming audio, video, simulations, speech recognition and other multimedia interactive technologies for the Internet. Before joining Parlo, Chima was the director of engineering at The Learning Company's foreign language division where he was responsible for all CD-ROM product engineering. He is a graduate of The University of Waterloo in Canada and holds a degree in computer engineering.
As Vice President of Marketing, Katherine Hall will be responsible for developing and implementing Parlo's global brand strategy. By defining Parlo's long and short-term global positioning goals, Hall will lead Parlo's international expansion. Hall brings more than 15 years of marketing experience to this post. Previously, Hall held positions with prestigious companies such as Pepsi-Cola, Colgate Palmolive Company, The Cambridge Group and Beverage Marketing Corporation. A graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in Chicago, Hall also holds an MBA in Marketing from UCLA.
Laz Cabanas brings more than 20 years of sales experience to Parlo as Vice President of Advertising Sales. Most recently, he served as director of pharmaceutical advertising sales and sponsorships for HeathGate Data Corp. in Burlington, Mass. Previously, Cabanas was vice president/managing partner at Promo Advantage International in North Bergen, N.J and prior to that he held several agency positions in New York and Los Angeles. In his new role at Parlo, Cabanas will be responsible for building Parlo's international advertising sales organization. Born in Havana, Cuba, Cabanas graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's degree in English/marketing.
